Microsoft’s Xbox division is joining Sony and other big publishers in raising the price on new, first-party, AAA games from $60 to 70.

The company announced starting in 2023 their new first-party games made for Series X|S will cost $69.99 at launch, which includes Forza Motorsport, Redfall, and Starfield.

Microsoft also noted regonal pricing may differ, but they didn’t list details for other regions or markets. “This price reflects the content, scale, and technical complexity of these titles,” a Microsoft spokesperson said to IGN.

The company was quick to note that this will not affect their titles launching for Xbox Game Pas day and date with its release date.

“As with all games developed by our teams at Xbox, they will also be available with Game Pass the same day they launch,” the company said.

The first of the new first-party releases to be affected by the pricing change is likely the new Forza Motorsport game, simply titled Forza Motorsport, which launches in spring 2023. After that, both Redfall and Starfield are planned for release in 2023 on both PC and Series X|S.
