People with this cognitive defect look to their social group to tell them what is true. There is no independent critical thinking. This is the lazy person’s way of acquiring his view of reality.”
“The third unfortunate human trait that favors tyrants was explained by Aldous Huxley. Huxley and Orwell each wrote novels predicting a dystopian future. Orwell’s prediction involved a substantial amount of fear and coercion, but Huxley predicted a relatively smooth and easy transition to tyranny. Huxley said the population would be distracted with trivial pleasures and would hardly notice the prison being built around them. He brilliantly foresaw how a society could sleepwalk into tyranny. - News cycle distractions are calibrated to ensure that you lose sight of what the government is doing.
- If you stop holding the government accountable to the rule of law, the only laws it abides by will be the ones used to clamp down on the citizenry.
- Do not turn your country into a battlefield, your citizens into enemy combatants, and your law enforcement officers into extensions of the military.
- As long as you remain fearful and distrustful of each other, you will be incapable of standing united against any threats posed by a power-hungry government.
- Once you trade your freedom for security, the terrorists win.

I was dragged to the office. Without any investigation, the officer assembled the entire camp to start a struggle session against me. In the session the officer suddenly asked me whether I had committed my alleged original crime leading to my 8-year sentence. I was stunned. It then dawned on me that this session was in fact prearranged. The parcel was only a pretense. Their real motive was once again to force me to admit all my alleged crimes. “I did not commit any crimes,” I asserted firmly. Immediately two people jumped on me and cut off half of my hair. The officer screamed again: “are you guilty?” I replied firmly again, “no.” Two people then used a rope to tie my hands back tightly. It was connected to a loop around my shoulder and underneath my armpits. It was knotted in such a way that a slight movement of my hands would cause intense pain. This struggle session lasted for two hours.
