In a recent episode featuring MMA fighter Josh Barnett, Joe Rogan said he would quit Spotify if he is forced to “walk on eggshells” and be cautious about his words. The MMA commentator, comedian, and podcaster has recently come under fire for spreading what critics say is “misinformation” and “conspiracy theories” for interviewing doctors and scientists that contradict the mainstream narrative on Covid.

“I will quit. If it gets to a point that I can’t do it anymore, where I have to do it in some sort of weird way where I walk on eggshells and mind my p’s and q’s, fuck that!” Rogan said.

He said that he now fears being criticized for “every little thing.”

“There’s more people poring over it but it’s the same thing. I do it the same way,” Rogan added. “If I become something different because it grew bigger, I will quit.”

Earlier this year, a group of doctors wrote an open letter to Spotify, asking the platform to do something about the “misinformation” spread on the Joe Rogan Experience, which is the most popular podcast in the world.

Most recently, Spotify has added content advisory tabs on COVID-19 content that promote content from Spotify’s chosen sources.

In the Tuesday episode, Rogan insisted that what he does “requires sincerity, without it, this show doesn’t have any success.”
Barnett encouraged him to continue, saying difficult conversations “resonate with people because they’re starving for that.”
