A handful of pro-choice demonstrators protested outside the San Francisco home of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday afternoon, accusing her and her fellow Democrats of being “complicit” in the potential overturn of Roe v. Wade by the Supreme Court.
The small group held several signs, some depicting caricatures of the conservative justices on the high court. Others blasted pro-life moderate Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) while delivering brief speeches targeting the party.

The signs featured images of Justices Amy Coney Barrett, Samuel Alito, Brett Kavanaugh, Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch. The word “Liar” was printed above their faces. All five justices reportedly support a draft opinion leaked last week that would overturn the landmark 1973 decision legalizing abortion nationwide.
“We are here because the Democratic Party and the Democrats as a whole have been complicit in this whole thing,” one protester shouted, according to a video shared on social media.
Standing next to a banner that read “Abortion On Demand & Without Apology!,” the protester directly called out Pelosi (D-Calif.), claiming she has been “complicit” with a Republican Party effort to strike down Roe v. Wade, as well as a slew of other rulings on gay marriage and transgender rights.
“I’m here because I care about the next generation,” another protester said. “I’m here because this is a blatant war on women and other trans — other uterus-bearing individuals.”
“Speaker Pelosi, this will be your legacy,” he said into a bullhorn. “Thirty-five years of your reign of terror, you had a super-majority under [President Barack] Obama, under which this should have been your top priority.”

“Why did you keep this on the table? Because this is your most effective fundraising tool — that’s why,” the protester added.
Ruth Sent Us, a pro-abortion organization that has been promoting several demonstrations outside the homes of the conservative justices, promoted Tuesday’s protest on social media, accusing the speaker of being “careless and cowardly.”
“The GOP followed a scorched earth strategy with endless Benghazi hearings and ACA [ObamaCare] repeals, but she passed endless bills that lay on @LeaderMcConnell’s desk and refused to hold hearings on TRUMPIAN crimes,” the organization wrote in a tweet.
Pelosi’s office did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
On Monday, the speaker praised the pro-abortion demonstrations taking place across the US, saying protesters had “channeled their righteous anger into meaningful action.”

The White House has also defended the protests — with press secretary Jen Psaki pointing out on Tuesday that none of the demonstrations to date have turned violent, while disregarding federal law barring protest meant to intimidate court officers over a pending decision.
“The president’s longstanding view has been that violent threats and intimidation of any kind have no place in political discourse. And we believe of course in peaceful protests,” she said during her daily press briefing.
“So I know that there’s an outrage right now, I guess, about protests that have been peaceful to date,” Psaki later added. “And we certainly continue to encourage that outside of judges’ homes and that’s the president’s position.”
